Living Tombstone

Poems
Somber faced
Clean swept, dreary.
Etched, cradling,
an epitaph.
Our void wrecked home, defiantly occupied.
Wide the gate, left open.
Lest beyond, is no more,
Than memories last breath.
I wrote this after watching “Train Dreams” and thinking about what it means to carry through life after losing your loved ones.
If you don’t know or don’t believe in an after life.
Perhaps what keeps a man going like that is knowing he’s their afterlife.
That they only remain to exist so long as he is alive
A living tombstone.
